By 2026, the number of daily smokers in China is expected to drop to 20.7%, down from the current 21.2%. This follows an average annual decrease of 0.4% since 2012, when China stood at 22.4%. Latvia currently has the highest daily smoking rate, at 21.2%, with Russia, Greece and Hungary respectively ranking second, third and fourth. Chinese tobacco production is also anticipated to decrease to 2,324,900 metric tons in 2026, from the current 2,448,900 metric tons. This falls at an average rate of 0.9% each year, since 1966. India, Brazil and Zimbabwe are the second, third and fourth largest producers of tobacco, respectively.
