Colombian wheat consumption is set to reach 2.1 million metric tons by 2026, according to a new report. This would be a 1.2% year-on-year growth from the 1.9 million metric tons consumed in 2021. Since 2017, Colombian demand has grown by 1.8% each year. In 2021, Colombia was the 37th-largest consumer of wheat in the world, behind Chile which consumed 1.9 million metric tons. India, the United States and Pakistan were the world's top three consumers, respectively. Meanwhile, Colombian wheat production fell sharply in 2021, down to 2.3 million metric tons from 3.6 million metric tons in 2020. This marks a 35.5% year-on-year decrease. Since 1966, Colombian supply has decreased by 29.8% each year. In 2021, Colombia was the 103rd-largest wheat producer in the world, behind Oman which produced 2.3 million metric tons. India, Russia and the United States were the top three producers, respectively.
