Egyptian wheat consumption is on the rise, with projections showing it will reach 14.7 million metric tons by 2026. This marks an increase of 0.4% per year since 2017. In 2021, Egypt ranked 6th in the world in terms of wheat consumption, with Russia coming in first at 14.4 million metric tons. India, the US and Pakistan ranked second, third and fourth respectively. Meanwhile, Egypt is expected to produce 9.3 million metric tons of wheat by 2026, a 0.6% year-on-year increase since 1966. In 2021, Egypt ranked 17th in the world in terms of wheat production, with Romania overtaking at 8.9 million metric tons. India, Russia and the US ranked second, third and fourth respectively.
