Americans are expected to consume almost 4 million metric tons of maize by 2026, a slight 0.1% increase from current levels. Since 2017, demand for the crop has been growing by 0.1% each year. American maize production is also set to rise by 0.6% in the same period, reaching 375 million metric tons by 2026. This marks a slight decline from the 1966 peak, at which time production was down 2.6% year-on-year. China, Brazil and Argentina make up the top four producers of maize.
