Global shipping freight volume is predicted to reach 6.6 billion tonne kilometres by 2026, a 2% year-on-year average increase since 2016. China led the way in 2021, accounting for 5.5 billion tonne kilometres, followed by the USA, Russia and Germany. Kazakhstan saw the greatest growth rate, an impressive 18.2% year-on-year, while the Czech Republic had the biggest decline, dropping 13%.
