China's export of natural rubber is expected to decline slightly by 0.9% annually in the five-year period from 2021 to 2026, reaching $20.4 billion by 2026. In 2021, China ranked 20th in exports, at $21.6 billion, while Sri Lanka was ahead at $21.6 billion. Indonesia, Côte d'Ivoire, and Malaysia were the second, third and fourth biggest exporters, respectively. Meanwhile, China's import of natural rubber is forecast to decrease 0.6% annually in the same period, reaching $3.7 billion by 2026. In 2021, the United States, Malaysia and Japan were the second, third and fourth biggest importers, respectively. Since 1997, China's demand for natural rubber has increased by 2.7% annually.
