Dane energy consumption is expected to drop over the next five years. According to a recent analysis, consumption is forecast to decrease by 1.1% year-on-year on average until 2026. This is a continuation of the trend observed since 1970, where consumption has decreased by an average of 1.5% each year. In 2021, Denmark was placed 64th in the world ranking, with 0.64 exajoules of energy consumed. Ireland overtook Denmark, with 0.67 exajoules consumed. The United States, India and Russia were the top three energy consumers, in that order. Likewise, Denmark's energy supply is forecast to drop by 1% each year on average until 2026. Since 1965, the country has seen a decrease of 1.7% year-on-year. In 2021, Denmark was placed 72nd in the world ranking, with 14.55 million tonnes of oil equivalent supplied. Bahrain overtook Denmark, with 15.34 million tonnes of oil equivalent supplied. The United States, India and Russia were, once again, the top three energy suppliers, in that order.
