In 2017, the Netherlands was ranked number 37 in terms of Tobacco Sales. Tobacco consumption in the Netherlands is set to decline steadily over the next five years. Latest estimates show that by 2026, only 11.2 percent of people aged 15 and over will be daily smokers, a drop of 3.8 points compared to 2021. This trend has been on the decline since 1971 when the figure was 4.8 points higher. The Netherlands was ranked 26th globally in 2021, with the United Kingdom coming in first with 14.1 percent of people aged 15 and over being daily smokers. Russia, Greece and Hungary respectively came in second, third and fourth. Tobacco sales in the Netherlands in 2017 amounted to $276.04 million, up 8.4 percent from $254.65 million in 2016. This, however, is a decrease of 20.1 percent since 1995. The Netherlands was ranked 37th out of the countries studied in terms of tobacco sales.
