In 2021 the country was 59th in the world ranking, having been overtaken by Portugal at 0.9 exajoules. The United States, India and Russia were second, third and fourth respectively. Morocco's energy supply is expected to reach 23.8 million tonnes of oil equivalent by 2026, an annual increase of 1.3% since 1976. In 2021 Morocco was 62nd in the world ranking, behind Tanzania at 21.7 million tonnes of oil equivalent. The United States, India and Russia respectively took the top three spots.
