The number of bank accounts in Germany is expected to reach 621 billion euros by 2026. This is up from 509 billion euros in 2021, representing a yearly growth rate of around three percent. Since 2012, the demand for bank accounts in Germany has grown steadily at a rate of two percent a year. In 2021, Germany was the fifth biggest market, with Switzerland in the lead at 509 billion euros. Japan, the United States and Switzerland took the second, third and fourth spots, respectively.
